About Gas Studios

GAS Studios started as something that I dreamt up in my spare time. The very first incarnation of GAS Studios was actually called "Grant Editing" and was used mostly to showcase work I had done on various maps and levels for the then popular first person shooter; Jedi Knight : Dark Forces II. After several maps were completed and released, I shut down the site for a lack of activity to the actual site and because I was getting bored with mapping for an outdated game. I instead downloaded a copy of the free animation and modeling program "Anim8or" and began to fiddle with that program.

From those random creations in Anim8or, GAS Studios was born, the idea was for the site to be a place for me to showcase models, both finished, Work in progress and future models that were being worked on. The site lasted a few years in that incarnation but the traffic to the site soon died out rather fast and I once again lost interest in the site.

It was a year or so later when I started school that I decided to re-do the site and upload current works and decided to expand the site to include my resume as well as my online portfolio. But school work piled up and I was unable to commit the resources and time to a proper re-design and the actual amount of info I wanted to post was just too overwhelming to cope with at the time.

So I set about doing a re-design, the site had the same layout and look for nearly 2 years and it was just not suiting my purpose anymore, So I took the theme of gas and created the current logo and then built the new site around that theme.

Currently, the site will be used for the same original purpose it was meant as but with a slight alteration. This is now my official website for me, my rants and I suppose "blog" will be posted on the main page while finished animations, models and possibly 2D art will be showcased on the pages within the site.

I plan on eventually adding more too it, perhaps expanding the idea of the portfolio and adding my resume once more, but currently I'm sticking to the basic's that the site was originally founded on and I'll see where that takes GAS Studios in the future.

About Grant Soules

I'm the creator of this here website and the creator of all the images you see contained within these pages. As I'm writing this little bit on the website, I'm 21 Years old and I'm working as a Corporate Trainer with Cineplex Entertainment, training new hires and coaching existing staff.

I'm a huge fan of computer animations movies, such as anything PIXAR puts out and have been since as long as I can remember, sitting in front of the TV at my grandmothers house and watching the amazing shows like "Reboot" and "beast Wars" and sometimes watching the animated parts of shows like "Power Rangers" and other such shows at the time. Ever since then I knew I wanted to get into the field of animation, mostly on computers.

I'm very interested in computers and gaming and enjoy a good round of Halo 2/3 with friends or a good match of Day of Defeat, I'm also a huge fan of "Stargate SG-1" and the recent spin off "Stargate Atlantis", both which have amazing stories, a great cast and amazing special effects. If you have not seen Stargate, I suggest you pick it up, it's Sci-fi, but the early seasons are strongly based on real life with the exception of a giant ring that transports you to alien worlds, plus it's got freaking MacGyver!

I hope to eventually get some time to work on my animations and modeling and continue to put my demo reel together and update it with better rigs and animations, and throw in some extra stuff I've been working on that I really want to show off. I'd really like to get into animation or rendering, the two areas that I find the most interesting and exciting.
